TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan's main stock index fell more than 120 points in early trading on Wednesday after markets in the U.S. ended sharply down on Tuesday.
After being on the verge of reaching 10,000 points, the TAIEX fell back to under the 9,900-point mark as the stock of tech companies connected to the Apple supply chain weakened.
In the U.S., the Dow Jones industrial index fell 237.85 points, while the blue chip-weighted NASDAQ fell 107.7 points. The S&P 500 was down 29.45 points. Analysts say the selling was prompted by continuing concerns over the Trump administration's governance, including a looming battle in Congress over health care.
