A "bunny boiler" is someone who is dangerously, irrationally or psychotically obsessed with another who is not (or no longer) interested in their attention.
In the 1987 movie Fatal Attraction, a married man has an affair with a woman who becomes obsessed with him. He wants to end the affair, but she refuses. Her response is to terrorize his family. In one scene, she breaks into their home and kills the family rabbit and leaves it boiling in a pot on the stove.
